How to swap USDT to Monero (TRC20, ERC20 and more)

NoxSwap Team

Many people hold USDT because it is stable, and swap into Monero when they want privacy. The swap itself takes minutes, but two details trip people up: the network your USDT is on, and the fee coin you need to send it. Get those right and the rest is simple. This guide walks through a USDT to XMR swap on NoxSwap, from picking the network to the moment your Monero becomes spendable.

Check which network your USDT is on

USDT exists on many blockchains: TRON (TRC20), Ethereum (ERC20), BNB Smart Chain (BEP20), Solana, TON, Arbitrum, Polygon and more. They are separate tokens that only share a name. A deposit must arrive on exactly the network you choose in the swap form, otherwise the swap cannot match it.

Your wallet or exchange shows the network next to the USDT balance or on the withdrawal screen. Choose the same one in NoxSwap's coin picker, for example USDT TRC20, before you request a quote.

Have gas for the network fee

Sending USDT costs a network fee paid in the chain's own coin, not in USDT. On Ethereum you need ETH, on TRON you need TRX or enough energy, on BNB Smart Chain you need BNB. A wallet holding only USDT cannot send it.

Fees differ widely. TRC20 and Solana are usually cheap, ERC20 can cost several dollars when Ethereum is busy. If you are withdrawing from an exchange, it pays the fee for you and deducts it from the amount, so check that the amount that arrives is still the amount in your quote.

Get a Monero address ready

Create or open a Monero wallet you control, such as Cake Wallet, Feather or the official Monero GUI. A standard Monero address starts with 4 and is 95 characters long; a subaddress starts with 8. Using a fresh subaddress for each swap keeps your payments unlinkable to each other.

Copy the address with the copy button and compare the first and last characters after pasting. Never type it by hand. Monero payouts need no memo or payment ID.

Create the swap and send the exact amount

On NoxSwap, pick USDT on your network as the coin you send and XMR as the coin you receive, enter the amount and paste your Monero address. Add a refund address on the same USDT network, then create the order. The minimum is around the equivalent of $50.

The quote is a fixed rate: the XMR amount you see is the amount you receive, with all fees included. Send exactly the amount shown within the deposit window, about 10 minutes, and save your order ID and signed letter of guarantee before you do.

How long until the XMR arrives

TRC20 and Solana deposits confirm within a minute or two, ERC20 within a few minutes. After that the exchange runs and the Monero payout is sent, so most USDT to XMR swaps finish in 10 to 30 minutes.

Your Monero wallet shows the incoming payment quickly, but Monero locks received funds for 10 blocks, about 20 minutes, before you can spend them. That is normal and happens with every Monero transfer.

Common mistakes to avoid

Sending USDT on a different network than the one in the order is the most common mistake; such a deposit cannot be matched automatically, so contact support with your order ID if it happens. Sending after the deposit window has expired means the fixed rate no longer applies, and sending a different amount than quoted may change what you receive.

Finally, don't reuse the same Monero address for every swap if privacy is the reason you are buying XMR. A new subaddress costs nothing.
