MetaMask Swap vs PancakeSwap vs NoxSwap: privacy and fees
NoxSwap Team
MetaMask Swap and PancakeSwap are excellent tools when your tokens already sit in a connected wallet on the right network. NoxSwap is built for a different job: a private swap from any coin to any coin, where you connect nothing, sign nothing and receive exactly the amount you were shown. In short, a DEX is often the cheapest way to trade one token for another on the same chain, while NoxSwap wins when privacy, Monero, bitcoin, cross-network swaps or a guaranteed amount matter more. NoxSwap publishes this guide, so we also say plainly where a DEX is the better choice.
Two different ways to swap crypto
A wallet swap such as MetaMask Swap, or a decentralized exchange (DEX) such as PancakeSwap or Uniswap, trades through smart-contract liquidity pools. You connect your wallet to the app, approve the token, sign the trade, and the contract swaps it on-chain from your own address back to the same address. MetaMask Swap adds an aggregator on top that looks for the best route across several DEXs.
An instant exchange such as NoxSwap works like a classic exchange office without the queue. You choose the pair and the amount, get a fixed quote, send your coins to a one-time deposit address, and the other coin arrives at any address you enter. You never connect a wallet to a website, and you can send from any wallet or straight from an exchange account.

What a DEX swap tells the world
Blockchains are public. When you swap on MetaMask Swap or PancakeSwap, the transaction is signed by your address and the new tokens land back in that same address. Anyone who knows the address, a friend you once paid, a shop, an exchange you withdrew from, can open a block explorer and see what you swapped, how much and when, along with the rest of that wallet's history.
The app you connect to learns something too. To show balances and send your trade, the interface and its node provider receive your wallet address with every request, and like any website they see the IP address the request comes from. Connecting a wallet ties the two together.
None of this is a flaw in MetaMask or PancakeSwap. It is simply how on-chain trading works, and it is why many people prefer not to swap from their main wallet.
How NoxSwap keeps your swaps discreet
NoxSwap is private by design. There is no registration, no account and no e-mail, and standard swaps need no KYC. Your order is a random ID and a link, nothing more.
On-chain, your deposit goes to a one-time address, and the payout reaches the wallet you chose from a fresh address. No transaction runs from your sending wallet to your receiving wallet, so the two are not directly linked. Send from one wallet, receive into a brand-new one, and they stay separate.
Behind the scenes we keep as little as possible. NoxSwap stores no IP addresses, neither with orders nor in its statistics, and order records are anonymized after 90 days. You can use the official Tor mirror listed in our PGP-signed mirrors.txt, and for the strongest privacy you can swap into Monero, a coin designed to hide amounts and addresses.
We are honest about the limits, too. A public blockchain still records your deposit and your payout, and large or flagged transactions, about 0.5% of swaps by our partner's figures, can be selected for an additional AML check. If you decline it, your deposit is refunded minus only the network fee.
No wallet connection, no approvals to forget
Many wallet drains break no cryptography at all. They start with a connection and a signature: a fake swap site or a look-alike token asks you to approve spending, and an approval you do not notice, or forget to revoke, lets a contract move your tokens later.
On a DEX, approving a token is part of every first trade with it, so you have to read each request carefully. Anyone can also create a token with a familiar name, so on an open DEX you must check the contract address yourself.
NoxSwap asks for neither. You send a normal transfer to a deposit address, like paying an invoice. Nothing gets access to your wallet, nothing stays approved afterwards, and you pick coins from a curated list with every network clearly shown, not from arbitrary contracts.
One fixed number instead of slippage settings
A DEX quote is an estimate. The final amount depends on the pool at the moment your transaction is confirmed, so you set a slippage tolerance, often 0.5% to 2%, and accept anything inside it. Large trades in thin pools move the price against you, and public trades can be targeted by bots that squeeze the price within your tolerance, the so-called sandwich attack.
NoxSwap quotes a fixed rate. Every fee is already inside it, the rate is locked for the countdown on the deposit page, and the amount you see is the amount that arrives, even if the market moves while your coins confirm. There are no slippage, gas or route settings to get wrong.
Any coin to any coin, across networks
A DEX trades tokens on its own chains. MetaMask Swap covers the networks MetaMask supports and bridges between some of them; PancakeSwap trades tokens on the chains it runs on. Monero is available on neither, and neither handles most non-EVM coins.
NoxSwap swaps between 500+ coins and networks: bitcoin to Monero, USDT on Tron to ether, USDT on BNB Chain to Litecoin. You can send straight from an exchange account and receive on a network where you hold no gas at all, which a DEX cannot do.
That is the job most of our customers come for: moving value between ecosystems in one step, without a bridge, a second wallet or a gas top-up.
Designed to be calm, clear and beautiful
Most swap interfaces were built for traders: route maps, slippage sliders, gas settings and token lists full of look-alikes. NoxSwap is built for people who simply want the swap done, and done right.
You get one screen and one number. Networks appear as separate, color-coded entries, so USDT on Tron can never be mistaken for USDT on Ethereum, and the checkout will not let you continue without a memo where one is required. A countdown shows how long your rate is locked, and your order page follows every step from deposit to payout.
It looks the part, too: a quiet night-sky design in dark or light mode that works the same on a phone, on a desktop and in Tor Browser, in nine languages. Good design is not decoration here. When money is moving, a calm screen with nothing to misread is a safety feature.
When a DEX is the better choice
We would rather you choose well than choose us. A DEX is usually the better pick when:
1. You trade one token for another on the same network, your wallet is already connected and holds gas, and the lowest fee is all that matters. For a same-chain stablecoin swap, a DEX is often cheaper.
2. The token only trades on a DEX, such as a brand-new token that no exchange lists yet.
3. You want to provide liquidity, farm or use other DeFi features, which an exchange office does not offer.
NoxSwap is the better pick when you want privacy between your wallets, need Monero or bitcoin, move between networks, send from an exchange account, or simply want a guaranteed amount without connecting anything. Either way, compare the amount you actually receive, not the headline fee.
Frequently asked questions
Is NoxSwap cheaper than MetaMask Swap? Not always. For a token swap on one network, a DEX often costs less. NoxSwap's quote includes every fee plus the guarantee that the amount shown is the amount that arrives. Compare the amount received for the same swap at the same moment.
How private is a swap on NoxSwap? We are discreet by design: no KYC for standard swaps, no registration, no account and no e-mail. Coins go straight to your wallet and the payout arrives from a fresh address, so your sending and receiving wallets are not directly linked. As with any legitimate service, large or flagged transactions can face an extra AML check by the partner executing the swap.
Do I need MetaMask to use NoxSwap? No. Any wallet works, and so does an exchange account. You only need an address for the coin you are buying, and ideally a refund address in a wallet you control.
Can I swap PancakeSwap tokens on NoxSwap? If the token is in our list, yes. USDT and USDC on BNB Chain are supported, for example, so you can swap them into Monero, bitcoin or a token on another network in one step.
Is NoxSwap a DEX? No. It is an instant exchange: every swap is executed by an established exchange partner at a fixed rate, and NoxSwap never holds your funds. Your deposit goes to the partner and the payout goes straight to your wallet.
