ChangeHerochangehero.ioNoxSwap vs ChangeHero: KYC, refund fees and EU access
ChangeHero has been swapping crypto since 2017 and picks a rate from a set of centralized and decentralized exchanges for each swap. Both services let you swap without an account, both offer a fixed rate and both list Monero. Where they part ways is what it costs to walk away from an identity check and who is allowed to use the service at all. Here is how they compare, checked against ChangeHero's own published terms.
Checked against ChangeHero's published terms on November 1, 2026.

The differences that matter
Walking away from a check
This is the difference that matters most. ChangeHero's KYC is risk-based: a flagged swap is put on hold and you are asked for a government ID and a selfie holding it with the transaction ID. If you decline, the funds go back to the address they came from, minus the network fee and a 10% operational fee of at least 100 USD equivalent. On a 500 USD swap, that minimum is a fifth of the money.
On NoxSwap, standard swaps need no KYC. Large or flagged swaps can occasionally be picked for an extra AML check by the exchange that executes the swap. If you decline it, the deposit is refunded, minus only the network fee, usually within 24 hours. The one exception is a transaction suspected of links to illegal activity, which the executing exchange may hold until the case is resolved.
What you actually pay
ChangeHero publishes its fees: 0.7% on a fixed-rate swap and less on its floating Best Rate. That openness is a plus. A fixed-rate deposit has to arrive within 10 minutes of confirming the order, and its terms let it refuse the swap and refund you if the rate moves more than 2%.
On NoxSwap you see a single number: the amount that lands in your wallet, with the network fee and our service fee already inside it. The only fair test is the same pair and amount at the same moment, compared by what you would receive.
Where you can use them
ChangeHero's terms, updated in March 2026, exclude anyone established, resident or located in the European Union, plus the US and its territories, Japan, Ontario, Bangladesh, Bolivia and sanctioned countries. NoxSwap is blocked only in Russia, Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria. Either way, check the rules where you live before you swap.
Privacy coins, Tor and track record
Both list Monero and Zcash. ChangeHero's AML policy, though, counts the use of Tor and of privacy coins among the signs of a suspicious or high-risk transaction, and applies standard due diligence to occasional transactions of 1,000 EUR or more. NoxSwap runs an official Tor mirror and works without JavaScript.
ChangeHero also sells crypto for cards through payment partners and has run since 2017, which counts for a lot. NoxSwap only swaps one coin for another and launched in October 2026.
Questions
Is NoxSwap a good ChangeHero alternative?
Yes, especially if you live in the EU or the US, which ChangeHero's terms exclude, or want to be able to decline a check without losing 10%. For a floating rate or card purchases, ChangeHero is the better fit.
Does ChangeHero require KYC?
Not by default. Its policy is risk-based: a flagged transaction is put on hold and you are asked for ID and a selfie. Declining costs 10% of the funds, at least 100 USD equivalent, plus the network fee.
Can I use ChangeHero in the EU or the US?
No. Its terms exclude anyone established, resident or located in the EU, plus the US, Japan, Ontario and several other places. NoxSwap serves the EU and the US and is blocked only in Russia, Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria.
Does ChangeHero support Monero?
Yes, it lists Monero and Zcash, though its AML policy counts privacy coins among the signs of a higher-risk transaction, which can mean more checks. NoxSwap sends and receives Monero natively.
